Transient
an original short film concept
While traveling on the road without a destination
an unlikely duo meets up with a group of vagabonds
and encounter tragedy on a train.

character concepts
When coming up with character designs I took inspiration from sub cultures in the punk community.

environment design
I experimented with various locations and props for the world of Transient thinking of different environments that vagabonds would likely inhabit such as on a train in a desert, and different types of sewer living like in NYC or Nevada.

I quickly ran into a few artistic problems Transient. It takes place on the back of a grain hopper train car. I used the premise of a poster as a way to troubleshoot these issues.

animation style
I've always been inspired by the Japanese animation studio Studio 4°C their style is the complete antithesis of my usual work. So I was determined to study them and incorporate their avant-garde style in my own way.

camera movements
Since the initial setting was on the back of a train car, I had to figure out how I would establish the world and film that they lived in such a a small confined space.

perspective
I conclude that warped perspective would be essential for the film but I did not have a lot of practice in the area so I decided to do what I do best. Learn.
