painting study
Inspired by J. C. Leyendecker's iconic style I wanted to try my hand using a more painterly process, the goal was to get an understanding of idealization through simplification and abstraction

lighting & composition
After stylizing this photo of a friend I wanted to experiment with the type of daylight in particularly noon and golden hour.
Original Photo
transient visdev
I quickly ran into a few artistic problems for my personal project Transient. A short film concept that takes place on the back of a grain hopper train car. I used the premise of a poster as a way to troubleshoot these issues.
animation style
I've always been inspired by the Japanese animation studio Studio 4°C their style is the complete antithesis of my usual work. So I was determined to study them and incorporate their avant-garde style in my own way.
camera movements
Since the initial setting was on the back of a train car, I had to figure out how I would establish the world and film that they lived in such a a small confined space.
perspective
I conclude that warped perspective would be essential for the film but I did not have a lot of practice in the area so I decided to do what I do best. Learn.

Style Swap
In a random draw I had to style swap the characters of Umbrella academy to the style of Trolls

Anthropomorphism
I wanted to practice drawing anthro characters so I took Amelia Earhart a famous American aviator and depicted her as a bird. I went through a ton of bird reference but ended up using a peregrine falcon

Character Design
A study on twisting idealization to the more grotesque end. And juxtaposing it with more cute animals
